WEL 106 Blueprint Reading for Fitters/Welders

Course Description

Covers interpreting weld symbols on blueprints, identifying proper layout methods and tools, and proper joint design necessary for various welding processes.

Competencies

1. Follow shop safety practices.
2. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
3. Follow guidelines prescribed in course progress chart.
4. Perform basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
5. Perform linear, angular, four-sided, triangular and cicular measurements.
6. Calculate volume, weight of weldments.
7. Calculate using percentages.
8. Perform metric conversions.
9. Layout cones, eclipse, pipe elbows and pipe t-connections.
